How can I easily transfer an 8.5GB computer file onto a usb flash drive?

Hi all. I just bought a 32GB Verbatim Store N Go usb flash drive in order to transfer an 8.5GB file from Vista, but once I start the transfer process, I keep getting a message that says "the file is too large for the destination file system." How can this be when the destination file system is 32GB compared to 8.5GB? There is plenty of space on the USB drive, so any ideas as to why this message keeps popping up?

Now, the reason for the transfer is that I'd like to use the 8.5GB .dmg file on my Imac (Mac OSX 10.5), so if I reformat the usb drive to NTFS, would it cause a problem if I try to install the program on my Imac from the flash drive?

Your flash drive is formatted as FAT32 FilerSystem, which has a limit of 4 GB for an individual file. You can either use a file compression utility that can split the archive into multiple 3.9 GB chunks, or you can reformat the USB Flash drive as NTFS File System, which will remove the 4 GB limit. (reformatting to NTFS will also erase all data on the drive, and make it so you can't easily use it with Macs)
