Do I need a new motherboard for a 500GB Western Digital Hard drive to be recognized by the BIOS?

I have a Chaintech VNF4 Ultra 939 NVidia nForce4 Ultra Atx Motherboard I purchased almost 2 years ago. I have been using a 250GB Western Digital Sata drive with it most of this time. I just purhcased a 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA drive that I was "going" to install Windows 7 on. Either this drive is DOA or maybe the BIOS on my motherboard doesn't recognize a drive this big. Can someone give me some suggestions on how I can figure out the problem? FYI, I just checked for the latest firmware on this motherboard at www.foxconnchannel.com and it appears I have the latest BIOS already which is dated 3/05/08. So, please don't be stupid and suggest that I try this. Thanks in advance.

the bios shouldn't need updated at all.......If the drive doesn't show up when you try to install windows then it may be DOA...or it may just need formatted. Most likely needs formatted. Boot into windows with the old HD.....go to my computer and see if it shows.......IF it doesn't go to run and enter diskmgmt.msc Right click on the drive without a letter assigned and assign a drive letter......you'll now be able to see the drive in my computer or format the drive as needed.
