Ball Bearing
Deep in our daily lives
Have you ever wondered how cars and other motor vehicles run smoothly and quietly? When I was a kid I was always impressed by how these powerful machines work. Later, I realized that these machines running smoothly with the help of small machines called bearings. Bearings are important to the machines we use every day, because without them we would frequently replace broken parts due to frictional wear of the system.
A bearing is a tool used to reduce the friction that occurs in machines. Friction is a kind of opposition force in the movement of a sliding or rolling motion on a surface other surface is in contact. Bearings bear the frictional force is created by the movement of a surface element of the machine.
Bearings are classified according to their mode of operation and movements that permit. The two common motions are linear and rotary. Bearings which allow linear motions are called linear bearings. These bearings allow movement straight line. An example of linear motion is the pulling and pushing of a drawer. movements rotation, however, involve a rotation and oscillation, in which the movement is only a part of a cycle as in the case of a wheel. Bearings, therefore, allow motions which are concentrated in a center like a wheel on the shaft.
Many applications use rotary bearings such as machine shafts, vehicle axles, and parts of watches. The journal bearings, a simple cylinder that is inserted between the wheel and central axis, is the most fundamental level rotary. The roller bearing followed, in which the sleeve is replaced by a series cylindrical rollers, each behaving as a single wheel.
The operation of bearings includes six common principles. Plain bearings are usually called "ordinary", "levels" "Stages" or "plain". Articles include Ball bearings and roller bearings. Jewel bearings allow freight carried by a shaft which is turned off center. fluid bearings, on the other hand, allow its load carried by a liquid or a gas. In magnetic bearings, a magnetic field carries the load. In flexure bearings, the movement is a load element which bends.
The bearings are said to have existed since ancient times Egyptian pharaohs, when he started building and construction of the Pyramids of Giza well known. An initial rate of linear bearing was used in Egypt to transport building materials. These materials included large boulders and rocks that were difficult to move and make the site building. The arrangement of trunks trees on a sled helped transport bulky materials from one place to another. This principle is the basis of modern bearings linear.
A model on the first ball of wood was used to support a turntable. It has been found with the remains of a Roman wreck. Leonardo Da Vinci is also said to describe a type of ball bearing at the time. But Galileo described the ball ball cage in 1600, but only in 1794 that the bearings are mounted as a set when Philip Vaughan got the first patent for a ball bearing. In 1907, the contemporary design of ball bearings are manufactured by Sven Wingquist.
The top sliding bearings were wood, but some have tried with other materials such as ceramics and glass. Today, plastics such as nylon and polyoxymethylene, and other metals such as steel and bronze are used to produce bearings.

What radius (in mm) shall be of steel (iron), ball bearings, if it wants to have a mass of 1.25 g?
What radius (in mm) of steel must (Iron), ball bearings if it wants to have a mass of 1.25 g? V = 4 / 3 (pi) r ^ 3 density of iron = 7.7874 = 1.25 volume of the workload = 1605 shows would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.
Mass = 1.25 g = 7787.4 kg/m3 Density V = 0.00125 kg mass / density = 1.605e-7M3 V = 4 / 3 (pi) r ^ 3 = 1.605e-7 m 3 r ^ 3 = (1.605e-7 * (3 / 4)) / pi = 3.83 e-8 m3 r = cube root 3.83 e-8 = 3.37e-3 m * 1000 = 3.37mm (I find it easier to work in meters)
